At Reading Earth, all of our services focus on cultivating children’s reading motivation and self-confidence.

Individual Reading Tutoring

This service is one-on-one reading tutoring. Sessions usually take place in a public library, run for one hour, and meet one or two times a week. Individual reading tutoring is always catered completely to the specific reading level, needs, and interests of the individual child.

Small Group Reading Tutoring

This service is reading tutoring for a small group of children who have similar reading levels, needs, and interests. Sessions usually take place in a public library, run for one hour, and meet one or two times a week. These tutoring groups are academic and include direct teaching of reading strategies for fluency and comprehension.

Book Clubs

Reading Earth provides after-school book clubs for 3rd - 5th grade students at local elementary schools thru various town recreation departments.  For the 2007-08 school year, book clubs will be offered in Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Scarborough, and Yarmouth.  You do NOT need to be a town resident to sign up for these book clubs.

For this service, a group of four to twelve children are guided by a certified teacher/Literacy Specialist as they read and discuss one to three high quality children’s literature books. Each book club session runs for seven to ten weeks, meeting once a week for one hour right after school. Kids sign up for a single book club session at a time, but of course can sign up for as many sessions as they’d like!

Reading Consulting and Workshops

Are you a non-profit organization that works with children? Reading Earth can provide reading consulting and presentation services for your organization, so that your employees, volunteers , and parents can be models and leaders of literacy for the children that you serve. To be a reader means confidence and power to a child, who may otherwise feel insecure or powerless at school or even at home. Being a lifelong reader can become a part of the culture that you nourish at your organization.
